Marie Curie was born Maria Sklodowska in 1867 in Warsaw, Vistula County, Russian Empire, and lived there, and for a period in Krakow, until she was 24. \n

In 1891 she followed her elder sister Bronis?awa to study in Paris, where she obtained her higher degrees and conducted her subsequent scientific work. She met and married her husband Pierre Curie there in 1895. They worked closely together until his tragic death in a road accident in 1906. \n

They had 2 children. In 1897 and 1904, respectively, Marie gave birth to their daughters, Irene and Eve.\n
